Windows, Mirrors, and Sliding Glass Doors: Utilizing Diverse Books

Windows, Mirrors, and Sliding Glass Doors: Utilizing Diverse Books

Join Leon County Government for an engaging discussion with Dr. Lakeisha Johnson about the importance of reading diverse books with children and building strong language and literacy skills for all ages.

The lecture will discuss how books allow children to see reflections of themselves, their own experiences, and the world that others live in. Reading diverse books can provide an opportunity for children to step into other worlds by using their imagination.

After the lecture, families are invited to participate in hands-on activities which support strong literacy foundations and explore the downtown Main Library.

The Leon County Library Lecture Series is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
