Join the Leon County Public Library and the African American Genealogical Society for two engaging presentations that delve into the history of African American families and community within Leon County.

The Historical Footsteps of the Hunter Hill Family from 1837 through 2023
Hunter Hill will share stories and remarkable experiences that shaped the Black communities of Leon County during the 19th and 20th centuries. Attendees will explore the Hunter Hill Jr. Collection that comprises 29 handmade scale model replicas that depict Black communities in Leon County.

Their Blood Runs through My Blood; Tracing My Slave Ancestors on the El Destino Plantation in Leon County, Florida, 1828 - 1865, and Reconstruction
Gloria Jefferson Anderson will discuss the research she conducted and the familial connections she made regarding her ancestry in Leon County, Florida.
