An Homage to Mexican Retablos by Alan Doerman
The LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library System warmly welcomes artist Alan Doerman. While stationed in San Antonio, Alan toured the traveling art show titled 30 Centuries of Mexican Art—its depth and breadth captured his heart and soul. Alan's retablo is a circa 1800s piece dedicated to San Martín de Porres, an Afro-Peruvian saint. The medium includes wood, leather, tin art, and plastic clay.
Artist Biography:
Alan is a retired United States Air Force veteran and former VA Medical Center professional from Oklahoma. Now fully embracing retirement, he enjoys dedicating his time to creativity and community. His love for art is matched only by his deep faith, devotion to his spouse, and the joy he finds in his grandchildren. A proud resident of Tallahassee, he values the connections he has built with his neighbors and the city he calls home.
This Mexican art-inspired exhibit will be on display at the Eastside Branch Library from March 1, 2025, to March 31, 2025.
