Library Card Collection

Library Card Collection

The Leon County Public Library system is excited to host an exhibit of library cards collected by Donna Coomer. Donna has been working on farms and ranches for 18 years and has used local libraries in each of the communities where she worked. Along the way, she amassed a collection of 28 library cards from around the country.

Artist Biography: Donna Coomer says that growing up down the street from a wonderful library was the start for her love of libraries. And as an adult, when considering farms or ranches to work at in the future, researching local libraries was one of her first priorities. If there was no nearby library or the library hours didn't work with her schedule as a farmhand, she would know that area wouldn't work. As the years went by, the number of farms added up and so did her library card collection. She says that a library comes with built in friends, either behind the info desk or between the covers of a book or on a DVD.

This exhibit will be on display at the Jane G. Sauls Fort Braden branch from May 10th through June 21st.
