Pollination Celebration with Mark Tancig
Mark Tancig of UF/IFAS Extension Leon County will discuss how pollinator communities directly affect human beings and help participants identify plants and animals at the Woodville Branch Library.
Attendees are encouraged to observe and collect plant and animal data outside the library during this in-person BioBlitz event. The library site and surrounding natural areas are examples of the longleaf pine-wiregrass savanna ecosystem, one of the most biologically rich habitats in North America.
To participate, download the Seek by iNaturalist app to your smartphone or tablet and collect photographs and biological information about the biodiversity you encounter throughout the event.
iNaturalist is a joint initiative of the California Academy of Sciences and the National Geographic Society. High quality data uploaded to the iNaturalist app becomes part of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, an open-source database used by scientists and policy makers around the world.
