Illuminating Illustrations of Lapis Lantern Studio Exhibit
Rayna Sassano is an artist who strives to illuminate her authentic self and seeks to empower others to do the same with creativity, levity and fun.
Her works are inspired by nature, her childhood and past, dreams of the future and the challenge of the present.
The concept of 'illumination' present at the conception of the studio initially came from Rayna's musings about illuminated manuscripts around the world.
She often thought about these works, often painstakingly created by those in mysterious candlelit seclusion in an attempt to bring light and wisdom to the world.
She doesn’t think about what was created in the religious sense, not always for profit, ideals, or instruction directed by the commissioner, but about how those who created must have felt in that moment, their hopes for what they were illuminating, and the mystery of how the work would be received.
